“This is my highest finish on the Mazda Road to Indy! It’s kind of bittersweet, I had to pass Andres (Gutierrez) on the last lap to get it, but for sure it’s an overwhelming feeling to be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Not finishing yesterday and coming back and finishing third today is unbelievable. I can’t thank everyone enough. We always say that the reason you make mistakes is so you know what not to do, so today I took what I learned and applied it, that’s what got us a third-place finish. I’m going to go into the weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway with the expectation that we have a great team of engineers, mechanics, and we can get to the front.”

“For the first two laps in the first race yesterday, the work on the long runs seemed to pay off, my car was really good. Unfortunately, I got into contact with another car and lost my front wing and needed to pit, but then my engine blew. Today, I think my car was really great and got us up to third, but unfortunately my toe link started breaking and on the final lap, it broke. That’s what caused Sting Ray and Askew to go by me. It’s unfortunate and disappointing, but I think we can move on from this and still get a positive out of it. Just like Barber, we showed we had the pace, I think it was just the capitalizing that we missed. We can learn from this and we’ll move on and come back stronger!”
